1. Background
Save Somali women and children (SSWC) is implementing the Strengthening Democratic and Inclusive Local Governance in Somalia (STRONG) project, funded by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) with support from FCA. This project aims to promote peace and good governance in Galmudug, Jubaland states, and the Banadir region by enhancing local capacities and encouraging inclusive participation among all community members. Save Somali Women and Children (SSWC), under the STRONG project, seeks to address the deeply rooted causes of gender imbalance and power relations in Somali society, specifically focusing on the lack of women’s contribution to political decision-making processes. The project aims to support women in advocating for their participation in political processes and decision-making structures at both district and state levels. SSWC is seeking a qualified media company to develop and implement a comprehensive public communication and awareness campaign including several radio shows as a key component of the STRONG project. This campaign will focus on empowering women, youth, and marginalized groups to effectively engage in governance processes, fostering a more equitable and cohesive society The media campaign will involve a series of activities including the development and broadcasting of messages through radio and television, public awareness campaigns, and high-profile engagements to amplify the role of women in society.
2. Objectives
The objective of this assignment is to design and execute a public communications campaign aimed at raising awareness of women’s political rights, promoting their leadership, and encouraging their active participation in governance and peacebuilding in Somalia. This will be achieved through the development and broadcasting of targeted radio and TV programs, as well as the facilitation of public engagements, including conferences and dialogues. The campaign will work to shift public perceptions, support women’s advocacy efforts, and amplify the importance of gender equality and inclusivity in political decision-making processes at both district and state levels.
3. Scope of Work
The selected media company will be responsible for the following tasks:
o Assess the needs and develop messaging on remote women’s political rights, participation, and leadership in peacebuilding and local governance.
o Develop communication and awareness-raising messages to promote women’s political rights and participation in peacebuilding and governance.
o Facilitate conferences and public engagements to promote women’s political participation and leadership.
o Provide training to local media personnel on producing and broadcasting content related to civic education and local governance.
o Map Media Houses and Practitioners promote women’s political rights, and participation and leadership in peacebuilding and local governance
o provide training modules on advocacy, gender-sensitive reporting, and women’s political empowerment, targeting media professionals capable of influencing public discourse and amplifying women’s voices.
o Facilitate Peer to Peer learning of Media in support to Women participation.

o A detailed report outlining the needs related to women’s political rights and leadership.
o Developed messages for radio, TV, and public campaigns.
o Detailed reports from the facilitated conferences, including attendance, Geo-tagged photos/videos key discussions, and outcomes.
