1. Background
Save Somali women and children (SSWC) is implementing the Strengthening Democratic and Inclusive Local Governance in Somalia (STRONG) project, funded by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) with support from FCA. This project aims to promote peace and good governance in Galmudug and Jubaland states by enhancing local capacities and encouraging inclusive participation among all community members to support these efforts, SSWC seeks a qualified consultant to conduct trainings that will serve as key resources for capacity building in inclusive governance, peacebuilding, and reconciliation. These trainings will be instrumental in equipping stakeholders with the knowledge and skills necessary to foster a culture of peace and inclusive governance in Somalia.
Objectives
The objective of this consultancy is to enhance the capacity of women, youth, religious and traditional leaders, and marginalized groups in Somalia by:
· Conducting a comprehensive mapping of their specific training needs in the areas of inclusive governance, peacebuilding, and reconciliation.
· Designing and delivering tailored training programs that equip these groups with the necessary skills and knowledge to actively participate in and contribute to democratic and inclusive local governance.
· Fostering a culture of peace and collaboration through the promotion of effective peacebuilding and reconciliation strategies, ensuring that these key stakeholders can play a pivotal role in the stabilization and development of their communities.
2. Scope of Work
The selected media company will be responsible for the following tasks:
Mapping of Training Needs:
· Conduct a thorough assessment to identify the specific training needs of women, youth, religious and traditional leaders, and marginalized groups.
· Prepare a comprehensive report detailing the identified training needs and recommendations for the development of training programs.
Training Design.
· Develop customized training curricula and materials based on the findings from the mapping exercise.
· design training that focuses on inclusive governance, emphasizing the participation of women, youth, religious and traditional leaders, and marginalized groups in local governance processes.
· design training on peacebuilding and reconciliation, incorporating practical tools and strategies that can be applied within the participants’ communities.
· Ensure that the training content is contextually relevant, gender-sensitive, and culturally appropriate and in line with the national reconciliation framework (NRF).
Training Delivery:
· Facilitate the training sessions for each target group, employing participatory and interactive methodologies.
· Utilize case studies, group work, and other experiential learning techniques to enhance participant engagement and learning.
· Ensure that the training sessions are accessible and inclusive, considering the diverse backgrounds of the participants.
3. Deliverables.
The consultant is expected to deliver the following:
· Training Needs Mapping Report.
· Customized Training Curricula and Materials.
· Successful delivery of training sessions on inclusive governance and peacebuilding and reconciliation.
· PowerPoint presentations and other training aids for each thematic area.
· Training reports.
· Pre- and post-training surveys.
4. Target locations
·Galmudug State
·Jubbaland State
DURATION OF THE WORK
The total number of working days is 30 days. It is expected that the consultants conclude all the work when the stated time lapses.
QUALIFICATIONS
Eligible consultants should have the following qualifications and experience.
• A Postgraduate degree in governance or related field.
• At least 5 years’ experience in the civil engagement and governance.
• Experience in the civil engagement and governance in a humanitarian context.
• A team player with the ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Ability to maintain professionalism in service delivery and upholding ethics.
• Good report writing, communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Working experience in Somalia.
• Ability to travel and work in the target locations.
